Geology
Vettom Panchayat is a coastal panchayat located in the Tirur Taluk. Its geographical features are as follows: Location District: Malappuram Taluk: Tirur State: Kerala It is situated close to the Arabian Sea. The Tirur River and the Conolly Canal flow around the panchayat.
Area : Land area of approximately 10 to 15 square kilometers. Terrain Low-lying coastal plain. Paddy fields, backwaters, small rivers, and canals are found here. The soil consists of sandy soil in some areas and clayey soil in others.
Climate : Tropical monsoon climate. Heavy rainfall occurs during the June–September period. Relatively high heat and humidity prevail throughout the year.
Water Sources : Tirur River Canolly Canal Ponds, canals, and wells.
Agriculture : Paddy cultivation is a key activity. Coconuts, bananas, and vegetables are also cultivated. Due to the coastal location, fishing is a major source of livelihood in some areas.
Transportation : It is connected to the city by road. National Highway 66 passes nearby. Nearest railway station: Tirur.
